身体が大きいからX-Largeが洋服のサイズ。よって自身でつけた芸名はXL。目が合うたびにニコニコと、気のせいだとは分かっていても、丸ごと受け入れてくれそうな。。。そんな笑顔の作家さん。はんなりとした京都弁は、仲間との楽しいお喋りの間中止まることがありません。XL作品の魅力は、オイルパステルを使った独特な色使いと、選ぶモチーフの不思議さにあります。外国の建物や有名人、時には日本の工芸品や自分の見た夢に至るまで、自由で拘りのない無国籍な世界が広がります。京都市バスの路線、系統をほぼ丸暗記しているXL。その驚異のバス力を駆使して観光客やお困りの方にベストな乗り継ぎ・行き方をご案内するパフォーマンスを展開しています。だから、タイトルは、「あなたの行き先、教えます」。あなたも、彼のアートのお導きで、知らない世界をのぞいてみませんか？皆様のご来場をお待ちしております。

ACM Gallery is pleased to present I will tell you where to go by XL, an exhibition of XL, running from June 3 – July 12, 2020. XL’s first solo show with the gallery features unique paintings.

He has a large body and his clothing size is Extra Large (XL) so he made his artist name XL. His gaze is always gentle, and every time my eyes meet his eyes, his smile is there, as if he is accepting everything…He is an artist with such a gentle smile. His elegant Kyoto dialect seems to never stop while he’s enjoying chatting with his peers. The attractiveness of his works is his unique way of using oil pastels and the curious motifs he chooses. Foreign architecture, celebrities, sometimes even a Japanese craft object or a dream he had etc…his borderless world with no limitations continues to expand. This is a personal matter, but when we finished working on a big exhibition around autumn last year, he gave us a huge bunch of flowers, which was so big that my whole upper body was covered by the beautiful flowers. I couldn’t stop myself from bawling my eyes out! I’ll never forget this wonderful memory. We look forward to having you join us.
